With release of Splash Strings On Me, III Records does an eloquent performance by documenting beautiful music that might otherwise go undetected outside Japan.  Kyoto Wajima instantly grabs your sympathetic response, often moving one whose love of American jazz songs benefits her well on this release. With her natural voice, Wajima can not go wrong on lush Monk's classic like " 'Round Midnight" and bossa nova reading of "What A Diff'rence A Day Made".  But Wajima doesn't bound herself to well known standards and challenges to be more contemporary on the up-tempo "Rio de Janeiro Blue".

Moving away from the album's jazz standard groove , Wajima
pleasantly amazes us with "What Are You Doing The Rest Of Your Life?" and a breathtaking interpretation of Kahal & Fair's " I'll Be Seeing You".  Wajima benefits from solid accompaniment provided by guitarist Igor.
